Project Game: ChubbyMan

This project that has been titled “Chubby Man”, is a simple 2 stage game that will play with perspective. The idea of “Chubby Man” has came from my own practice that I do in my own time. My individual practice is based on different shaped men, where I concentrates on real men that are not formed like the media shows us, i.e. chiseled body or someone who looks like a “Greek God.” I work with real life models who portray different shapes and size, and those life models are, myself, my partner or even friends. the media I work with are oil paints on canvas and photography, where I am the model/subject. At some point I will be including some of my personal work in my game.

The game portrays a large “cartoony” character that jumps platforms to platforms and he needs to reach the 8th platform that is relatively high up. This is a mockery to the media to say that even large men can be athletic.

The game will start from a 2 dimensional format, where you will see the main character “Chubby Man” and first four platforms in 2D. Once “Chubby Man” reaches platform 4 the angle of the camera will change, probably a top corner view which will enable the 3 dimensional perspective, and the main character and the remaining 4 platforms will shift into 3D. That will be something I will need to play with and figure out how to achieve it.

I know for sure I will have to make few blueprints for some of the platforms to move up and down, and have a trigger box to shift the camera angle. This sector will be a bit difficult, but i will find a way to overcome it. Perhaps I will collaborate with another student to achieve this.
