So we dished out our ideas to Jez and a conversation about mine and Sam’s ideas. Me and Sam had thought that to make the Snake and Ladders game would be too easy and not adventurous enough but, concept wise it was great and simple. What we forgot is that the animation of the snake would be too long and it would be a project in it’s self. There would be 4 different animation to create, 1st the snake moving forward, 2nd the snake starting to climb the ladder, 3rd moving straight up the ladder and 4th the snake getting on the cube. All of this animation would take time and it would become into a long project. There is nothing wrong with it but, me and Sam would like to create a game where it is more than just animating. This was something that Jez had got our attention to it. Were also so in a dilemma on which one to do and Jez had helped us to make a decision and we went with the 2D character in a 3D world, or I should say 2T3D (2 to 3D).
Jez had also gave us an idea that we could look in to and that is Victorian paper theatre because, we wont our game to have this layered look to it and something that is hand drawn and paper like texture.
Our research is going to be based on the 2 games “Broken Age” and “Journey”, finally Victorian paper theatre. All of this research will help us to design our game and me so, I can do some concept art work for the game that will later be used as textures, hopefully.
