Cave Development & Lighting

Cave Development 1
Cave Development (fig.1)

Before I had painted the cave scene i had done a simple out line of the scene so Sam would have something to work on Photoshop to cut down the foreground, mid-ground and back-ground layer just the same way he did for the prototype scene. This would have been a simple cut out as I did mention what 3 layers would be cut out to give more depth. the character can only move left and right in this scene and he/she is kept behind the foreground so, you can’t really see the characters feet or shadow. In this scene i would like the gamer to experience the ambiance of the sound and the lighting that will be emitting from the above. To show that there is a hole in the cave and that the suns rays are shinning into the cave.

Lighting ((fig.2)

Me and Sam had a bit of a play around where we would keep the light for the cave scene so, the illusion of having the sun showering its rays into the cave would look some what realistic but, animated to. we had to place the light far above the scene and expand the radius of the light so that the gap from the top would get enough light and recreate this look how having actual sun light being shun from the gape.
