Luddites Lace Presentation

We have begun our 2nd year by basing our project on the Luddites. These were people who went against the poor condition, the work ethic in a loom factory and how a lot people who made lace from home were getting redundant. The Luddites would dissemble the machinery to stop the industry from moving ahead and to give back people their working rights. I would even say that term luddism is a type of a political movement within the industry revolution.

For my project I will be working mostly on concept design, probably more political base, e.g. what it would look like to have someone from our time, 2019 using a spin dial landline and how someone from the 70’s using an Ipad/ tablet. This is to represent on how industries are developing and at what rate, it is also to show that people from 2 different period of time would be alien to the technology. At the current time people in technology world are discussing on how AI will “takeover” our life, how people will be left with no work and people being redundant, same ideology as the luddism movement. I will be relating the current time/ era to say 2 decades ago and how vastly the technological world has changed and how fast it is progressing. I am thinking about making posters and banners that will be placed in a gallery space made in Ue4. I will be working with my team, creating few 3D models that I will be sketching them out, which then will be placed in this simulated gallery space. The game will have simple game mechanics, where the player will act as a visitor and move from one room to another. I will be sketching out the objects that will be developed on 3Dmax studio by my team mate, Brendan and have my other team mate, Sam create a gallery space. For the architecture of how the building or the rooms how will they look in this gallery, we will have to visit few galleries and take pictures to get a sense of how idea of how it will look like in Ue4 and create a layout of it.

This just to show where and how I will begin my research and I am sure that my research list will expand beyond on what I have mentioned in my presentation.

Although our target audience is 6th graders I think our project and what we will be creating will be understood by everyone and parents will able to engage with our work.

A list of games to look into and get ideas and inspiration, however I am mainly gravitating towards the illustration and animation side of our project. This list of games will increase or it might not, we will know in the near by future.
