Sketches 3

All these drawing will be later coloured in by hand using alcohol based copic pens, then scanned into Photoshop to edit them and make series of them to show that a mouth is consuming all this food, and how one by one the dishes are disappearing.

I think this drawing works well especially the sponge cake, however I am not too sure about the bowl that the steamed cake is sitting in and the angular lines. I think it is too distracting and drawing should be kept a bit simple, for this one.

I love, love love this drawing. I like how well the composition is and how the simple platform gives a sense of space for this drawing. I do realise that the main subject of this draw, khandvi is a bit lopsided and could do with re-balancing, which I will be doing it on Photoshop.

Fafda and Jalebi

Jalebi are a type of confectionary that is made out of chickpea and yogurt batter and then left to ferment for a day, a day later it is deep fried then tossed into sugar syrup. This sweet is widely eaten in India and some would eat it with yogurt or fried and spiced gram flour crackers with fried and seasoned green chilies, for breakfast with sweet tea.

For this drawing I thought about framing the sketch and only picking out the main details that i could see in the photo, for example, the puffed up gram flour cracker and the main swirls of the jelebi, both been deep fried.
