
Monthal is a sweet dish that is normally eaten after lunch or dinner, to satisfy your stomach, so you know you are full or it is consumed during an auspicious occasion, like a festival, weddings, or even birthdays. People do generally do say that Gujarati people have a very sweet tooth and they might be right because I simply adore Gujarati sweet like monthal.
INGREDIENTS
FOR SUGAR SYRUP:
- 1 cup sugar
- ¾ cup water
- ¼ tsp saffron threads
- ¼ tsp cardamom powder / elachi powder
OTHER INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups besan / gram flour
- 3 tbsp ghee/ clarified butter
- 3 tbsp milk
- 1 cup ghee/ clarified butter
- 1/4 cup almonds
- 1/4 pistachios
- 1/4 cashews
