Photo-montage

My approach to my concept art is by doing photo-montage and what i have learned from my Photoshop classes with our tutor Stuart. I have used the skill of clipping mask and using different blending tools. I will go through each image of what i have done to create these posters.

To begin my photo-montage work I started with making a title that would explain on how people thing the technology is “taking-over” and how technology is taking human jobs. So to show that I went a bit literal and typed out the word “takeover” which is a relatable for many circumstance when there is change or development is introduced to our society.

This wasn’t a planned out concept, but for some reason I am very drawn towards the idea of how phones have developed and how a a phone (mobile phone) is a piece of computer that everyone is depended on and how the cord based receiver phone was a convenient item to have in a household in the 70’s. What I did was I merged a smart phone to a cord receiver based phone, that was used in the 70’s. The images are secondary source from google. Then I used the filter tool, and used several filters to change the look of the image then I made it into a clipping mask which didn’t work properly so I used more filters to merge the title with the back image. For this Photoshop work I have used a different title from the one I originally made, to illustrate a new technology being introduce to the public and the title “phone of the year” can be used in current time and the past time.

I then used the takeover sign that I made earlier to use it as a title over the drawing by making a clipping mask.

same principle as the previous image, but the only thing that is different is the colour choice and how the back image is place where you can see all the main parts of the phones.

This more of a literal approach to my photo-montage work where 2 different phones are “attached” together to show how a video call might look like in the 70’s, and I have used retro colours in the background to get the filling of what adds in a magazine or newspaper might look like and used “groovy” font to give more of a 70’s vibe.

I am taking my work in more of a technological satyr and mocking the effects that people get when they hear that technology is advancing and how people have this fear that technology will replace everything, when that is not the case.
